Gun Dog Training

Working dog training from someone who has done it.

Overview

Gun dog training from someone who has done it with his own dogs. Dan grew up around working Labradors and spaniels and trained his own Labrador up as a gun dog.

Some dogs are going to work on a shoot. Others are working breeds that need the job they were bred for. The training is the same for both. Steady, patient and built on the basics.

Plenty of the dogs we train are working breeds living in pet homes. Gun dog work gives them an outlet and makes them easier to live with.

What We Work On

Inside the sessions

Steadiness

A dog that waits to be sent, whatever is going on around it.

Retrieving

Marking, fetching and bringing it back to hand.

Whistle work

Stopping and coming back on the whistle, at a distance.

Heelwork

Walking to heel on and off the lead, the foundation for everything else.

Labs and spaniels

The breeds Dan grew up with and knows best.

Pets welcome

You do not need to shoot. Working dogs in pet homes are a big part of what we do.
